Marion E. Balyszak brings 31 years of non-profit administrative experience to this position, thirteen of those years in the area of water quality. Balyszak previously served as Executive Director of Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association, Chairman of Seneca Lake Area Partners in Five Counties, and Program Assistant for the Finger Lakes-Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance. She is active on a number of regional water quality committees, currently chairs the Board of Governors for the Great Lakes Research Consortium and is a member of the Great Lakes Basin Advisory Council. She has significant administrative experience in a number of other area non-profit organizations to include arts and humanities, historic preservation, grant writing and development.
As director, Balyszak provides leadership for the Institute and development of a comprehensive, externally funded program at the Colleges that fosters research, education, and community service concerning the Finger Lakes in New York State. She works closely with the Colleges’ administration, faculty and staff, as well as regional water quality representatives, elected officials, regional planners, business leaders and students to support and develop the Institute’s mission and activities. She frequently presents programs on a variety of water quality issues and topics for regional groups, community organizations and academic settings.
