Sheila Myers, Education Outreach Coordinator at the Finger Lakes Institute, is among those planning to develop a multi-disciplinary curriculum, "My Place in the Finger Lakes," for middle school students. The project is aimed to help teachers introduce environmental topics in multi-disciplinary subjects (not only science); and to improve students' and teachers' knowledge of the Finger Lakes environment and how human interactions can influence this environment. Groups of several middle school teachers from the region are being sought to participate in the Finger Lakes Teacher Institute, starting Monday, Aug. 13. During the week-long Institute, teachers will be conceptualizing and writing modules to be part of the "My Place in the Finger Lakes" curriculum. Those willing to help are asked to call Myers, FLI's Education Outreach Coordinator, at (315) 781-4380, or e-mail smyers@hws.edu.
