Celebrate America Recycles Day: Cell Phones for Science

As part of the on-campus celebration of America Recycles Day, used cell phones, batteries and accessories will be collected all day on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Finger Lakes Institute, 601 S. Main St.

Recycling and properly disposing of electronic waste reduces the amount of persistent toxic chemicals that may end up in landfill leachate.

Those who drop off cell phones for recycling will receive gifts; each recycled phone will generate funds to support continued Finger Lakes research. Organizers are also accepting batteries, accessories, PDAs, blackberries, pagers and chargers.
