Science on Seneca is a teacher-training program offered by the Finger Lakes Institute to help teachers in the region who are interested in bringing their students aboard The William Scandling, HWS's 65-foot research vessel, on Seneca Lake. During the training, teachers learn how to use the limnological research equipment on board to collect chemical, biological and sediment data from the lake. After attending the one-day training event, teachers are invited to register to take students on a field trip during the academic year for a minimal fee of $15. Training will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, starting at the Finger Lakes Institute, 601 S. Main St.; registration details are available by e-mailing Barb Halfman.
