Finger Lakes Institute featured in Ithaca Times story

Printable Article

A story in the March 5 edition of the Ithaca Times featured researchers from the Finger Lakes Institute on the HWS campus.

The story described a group of scientists who met to discuss the levels of phosphorus in Cayuga Lake. The story summarized the results of the meeting by saying that Cayuga Lake is in pretty good shape.

Phosphorus is one of the primary components of fertilizer, and it enters streams and rivers that feed into the Finger Lakes primarily from farmland.

Cayuga Lake provides drinking water for the city of Ithaca and hundreds of other communities; it is the next lake to the east of Seneca, stretching between Seneca Falls on the north to Ithaca on the south.
